I have been working in a hotel for around five years, and when our spa broke down I had to find some spa supplies as soon as possible to get it up and running again. My position as concierge means that I am in charge of making sure that every single guest has the best time possible when they stay with us. So when I arrived at work one morning and realized that someone had gotten into the hot tub wearing a wig which had come off and gotten snarled in the motor, I was a little perturbed.
Of course, I felt sorry for the woman who lost her wig, but at the same time, she was only wearing it for vain reasons and should not have worn it in a spa in the first place. I had to drain the tub and take it apart to see how bad the damage was, and the minute I saw it, I was sure that most of the parts would need to be replaced.
I went and talked with the maintenance man about what we needed to do to fix it, and he told me it would be no problem at all to fix it as soon as he got the right parts for it. It was left to me to figure out where to order the spa supplies from, and because our spa and pool area is running every single day, I knew we could not afford to order inferior replacement parts. At the same time, I did not have unlimited funds to throw around, so I needed something not too expensive.
After some searching I found a website that had really good quality spa parts that were priced perfectly. I asked them to put a rush on it so the parts would arrive in just a couple days, since the spa was very popular, and I knew that with the spa not working there would be a lot of upset guests. At the very least, I could tell them roughly when it would be up and running again, which made my job a lot easier and mollified even the most vocal of them.
When the parts were delivered, I rushed them to the maintenance man, who got to work right away, replacing those motors and other parts that were ruined with wig hair. He was even able to get it done faster than we had anticipated, and he simply raved about how wonderful the parts were that I had ordered. That made me feel that I was doing my job well and I felt very vindicated by that.
