The Reason Why Stick With Innovative Self-Defense Versus Enemies

By Gearld A Potlorck

One of my jobs as a self-defense instructor would be to train rookie policemen in the use of protective tools such as batons, stun guns and also pepper spray. I specialize in teaching non-lethal submission tactics using these devices.

Initially, we used a standard type of pepper spray that was in liquid form. We observed that a few of the excess spray could be wiped away to dampen the effect. To improve effectiveness, we started out utilizing Mace pepper gel in training.

Pepper spray is a non-lethal self-defense tool built to incapacitate an assailant. It does this by causing a painful burning sensation in the eyes and also on the skin of anyone who it hits.

The effects of a defense spray are temporary and last only up to 45 minutes. They don't cause any long term harm to an opponent although the effects should be strong enough to buy you time to escape an assailant and call for help.

The gel pepper spray that I use is unique in that the pepper spray is suspended in gel. This gives it several noteworthy advantages. First, the pepper spray is more powerful because it is concentrated into a gel form.

Next, since it is a gel, the stream does not disperse, giving it a greater range. The gel also sticks just like glue to a target, making it hard to wipe off. Furthermore, there isn't any danger of it flying back into your face due to winds.

I specifically utilize one that has 45 grams of spray. These are enough for 7 one-second-long bursts that can hit a target around 18 feet away. Furthermore, it came with a special flip-top cap that was made to prevent unintentional discharge.

All of my students have noted that they are pleased with the Mace pepper gel that I showed them and we learned with. In fact, it has proven to be equally as effective in the field as its regular, liquid-based version.
